Joss Whedon’s latest brain child is on Hulu for the next month. The best part about Hulu is it’s free! (It’s also available on iTunes for purchase.) “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” is hilarious and its hard to not sing along. (Of course if you hate musicals you will not enjoy this - you know who you are.) Whedon has said there will be more Dr. Horrible to come… Hopefully we will find out how evil Dr. Horrible really gets… Does Bad Horse have a voice? Is there a lot of politics in the ”Evil League of Evil”? Will Dr. Horrible find love? Will Captain Hammer return and bring… the.. hammer?
Dr. Horrible was creative project during the Writers’ Guild of America strike. Written by Whedon, his brothers Zack and Jed, and Jed’s fiancee Maurissa Tancharoen.
Over at ”Jesus Needs New PR” Matthew Paul Turner introduced me to Brooke Fraser. I’m half way through my first listen and love like what I hear. Brooke brings an honesty to her lyrics that is refreshingly transparent. Her vocals are clean and not overly produced. While I’m only on my first listen I think I could leave this album on repeat for some time and not grow weary. Pop over to iTunes and check it out, or just click here.
Update 8/3/08: I’ve had a chance to listen a bit more and while the album is good, I found many of the songs to sound the same. She started to remind me of Jacque Velasquez a bit. Which isn’t a bad thing, just something I’ve heard before. 3/5
Don’t ask me why… but the Yip-Yips came to my mind today at work. I think I was answering in the affirmative to my boss and it came out as, “Yup, yup, yup.” A synapse misfired and I had undulating Muppet mouths flashing across my mind’s eye. A quick YouTube search for “yup, yup, yup” came up empty… I tried “Yip, Yip, Yip” and hit the jackpot.
